The Plan Read this first
🛡 Warrior – Arms (2H)
- Spec Arms (two-hander) – group levelling, big instant hits (Overpower, later Mortal Strike & Whirlwind).
- Warriors get ~95–100% of their damage from the weapon – always chase the next weapon upgrade (see Gear).
- Professions: Mining + Blacksmithing. He is the duo's armour/weapon smith – and his Weapon Stones add flat weapon damage.
- Tank in dungeons: Defensive Stance (quest at 10) + a 1H/shield set from Tank/Heal Sets.
✝ Paladin – Retribution (2H)
- Spec Retribution. Every source says to start Ret – mana talents + Pursuit of Justice. Take a slow, heavy two-hander.
- Professions: Alchemy + Herbalism – potions/elixirs for both of you, self-sufficient and good gold.
- Heal in dungeons with Holy Light / Flash of Light (20) + Lay on Hands; tank with Seal of Fury + Righteous Fury + Consecration.
- Reputation for the duo: Paladin is rated one of the safest, fastest levelers; Warrior is slow solo – but great with a healer. You are that healer.
How the duo works
- Level 1–40: both DPS. Quest together always – a Paladin healer behind a Warrior makes the Warrior's "weak" solo levelling a non-issue, and kills go faster in a pair.
- Dungeons (5-man): you need three more. Whoever the group lacks fills in: Warrior tanks (Defensive Stance), Paladin heals (or tanks) – in your DPS spec, with a swap of gear. Details in Tank/Heal Sets.
- Level 40: unlock Dual Talent Specialization. Recommended second specs: Warrior → Protection; Paladin → Holy (or Protection if you'd rather tank). Plate armour also unlocks at 40.
- Level 60: ride faster, move to your endgame builds. Pre-raid BiS list is in Gear.
What's New in Forever Everything that differs from Classic, in the order you'll meet it
By level – your timeline
| Level | New / changed in Forever |
|---|---|
| 1–12 | new zone Zephras Isle – Skyborne start zone (needs the Skyborne Heroic Pack; Skyborne can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid; Alliance Skyborne also get Mage). Hands off to the normal 10–20 zones at 13. Elwynn, Darkshore and Ashenvale got visual refreshes. Over 1,000 new quests across 1–60. |
| 5 → 10 | Talents normally open at 10; the Legacy talent Talented pulls the first point to 5–9. Cooking Fire is now a Basic Campfire that makes a campsite – each player can drop one profession object (one hour, needs rested state). |
| 6 | Holy Strike (Paladin, 12s cooldown) arrives – a key damage/threat button. Judgement no longer consumes your Seal. Twist of Light supports seal-twisting without a swing-timer addon. |
| 10 | Seal of Fury (Protection tank seal, taunts through Judgement) – your Paladin can tank early. Class quests (Warrior: Defensive Stance). |
| 13–20 | new dungeons Hall of Thanes (13–18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20). Ragefire Chasm is still 13–18. New boats: Stormwind Harbor → Auberdine, Menethil → Southshore → Auberdine. Waylaid Supplies returns (turn in crates for Merchant's Favor). |
| 20 | Paladin: Consecration baseline; Blessing of Kings is baseline (no longer a talent). Camp objects: first of each profession at skill 20 from camping NPCs/trainers; advanced ones from dungeon Blueprints. |
| 24–31 | new dungeon Excavation Site: Wetlands. The Wetlands got new quests and a refreshed Menethil route. reworked Alterac: Dalaran is a town again with banker, vendors and trainers. |
| 25 | Legacy System opens (first point at level 25 on any class, or skill 150 in a non-gathering profession). More points at class level 45 and 60. |
| 28–33 | new dungeon City of Dalaran – attunement quest for Alliance: An Alarming Request from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. |
| 35 | Desolace's centaur reward tuning (Gelkis/Magram) hits level 35. Artisan profession tier (skill 200–300) unlocks at character level 35. new dungeon The Drowned City (35–40, off STV). |
| 36–44 | new zone The Riverglades – Alliance hub Farholde Keep (flight paths to Lakeshire, Morgan's Vigil, Thelsamar), 150+ quests, Twilight's Hammer and ogres. Reach by the Tanaris boat to Powderfuse Port or the new fork off Redridge's road. new dungeon Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45) – designed as an alternative to repeating Scarlet Monastery. |
| 40 | Riding training now grants the mount (TBC-style) – no more mount purchase. Dual Talent Specialization, plate armour. |
| 40+ | new zone Shen'dralas – hidden valley south of Desolace (walk in through the Valley of Bones). Level range not yet announced; centaur war, Shen'dralar/Eldre'Thalas lore, and quests that send you back into Razorfen Downs and Maraudon. |
| 48–53 | new dungeon Alcaz Prison (Dustwallow Marsh) – its bosses drop Blueprint recipes, so it stays worth running at 60. |
| 55–60 | new zone Mount Hyjal (via Darkwhisper Gorge in Winterspring; flight hub Tainted Foothills). new dungeons Blackmaw Hold (Azshara, 55–60) and Shaper's Terrace (Un'Goro, 58–60 – collect power crystals in Un'Goro first). |
| 60 | Cap stays 60 forever (horizontal expansion). Raids from 9 Dec 2026: Hyjal Summit (20-player), Barrow Deeps (10-player), Onyxia's Lair. Transmog level restrictions are lifted at 60. Two more dungeons planned for spring 2027 and two for summer 2027. |
New systems
Realmless & rulesets
- No realms – you pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, Hardcore (Hardcore after launch). You can only group with players in the same ruleset; Horde and Alliance still can't group.
- Two-part character names, unique per region. Collections and Legacy points are account-wide.
Grouping
- No Dungeon Finder, no Meeting Stones. You use a Looking-for-Group listing tool with playstyle tags (Learning / Relaxed / Competitive / Carry Offered) – so it takes a bit of work to fill dungeon spots.
- Dungeon kill XP was raised ~20% in beta; Blizzard says perfect dungeon play now levels about as fast as optimal questing.
- Dungeons emphasize crowd control and tactics – Polymorph, Fear, Root, and the Paladin's Repentance matter.
Itemization
- Hit and crit are combined (spell, melee, ranged). Weapon skill reduced per item. New stats cut the chance to be parried/dodged.
- Healing gear carries a third as much bonus damage – your Paladin can heal in +healing gear and still hit things. Spellcaster weapons give both spell damage and healing.
- Every dungeon drop was reviewed, hundreds of new drops added, unique boss items are blue, set bonuses improved. Situational trinkets tied to environments and creature types.
- Class quest rewards expanded (e.g., Ladimore Heirloom Ring from Mor'ladim in Duskwood; Master Hunter's Spellsword from Hemet Nesingwary in STV).
Transmog
- Transmogrifier in certain cities. Uncommon/rare BoP dungeon drops unlock their look for every eligible looter; epic raid drops only for whoever loots them. "Classic Mode" disables transmog on entry.
Paladin specifics
- Holy Strike at 6, Judgement no longer consumes Seals, Seal of Fury taunts, Consecration baseline at 20.
- All three specs gained talents (Infusion of Light, Swift Judgement, Sacred Arbiter, Oath of Light, Light's Vigil, Shieldsworn, Unsealed Wrath, Vengeance now stacks 5×).
- Talent trees: same row count; there's a new 16-point milestone. Still no interrupt or slows.
PvP & races
- New battleground: Darkspear Islands. Normal ruleset PvP needs mutual consent.
- Each race has two active + two passive racials (Dwarf Stoneform now reduces physical damage; Undead Will of the Forsaken no longer grants immunity). New combos: Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, Undead Paladin.
Legacy System Free power before you even pick a zone
Forever adds an account-wide Legacy Point pool (press Y). You can earn ~65 across the account but only 16 can be active per character. Your first point comes at level 25 on any character or by hitting skill 150 in a non-gathering profession – so your Blacksmithing and Alchemy can unlock it early. Every class levelled to 25 is more points, and the first 150 / 225 / 300 in a profession gives points too.
Recommended 16-point leveling build (all "Adventure")
| Legacy talent | Ranks | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Well Rested | 5/5 | Rested XP builds 20% faster, cap +20% – and it's the gate for Talented. |
| Talented | 5/5 | First talent point at level 5 instead of 10, all 51 points by level 55. (Rank 1 = level 9, down to level 5 at rank 5.) |
| Thrill of Adventure | 5/5 | Each killing blow restores 5% HP+mana over 10s (outdoors) – huge for a Paladin's mana and Warrior's downtime. |
| Field Medicine | 1/2 | Bandages usable 10s sooner (outdoors). |
How you earn points (1 per challenge)
- Classes: reach level 25, 45 and 60 on each class.
- Tradeskills: 150, 225 and 300 in Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring (the two of you cover Alchemy + Blacksmithing – gathering skills don't count).
- Adventure: the Explore Azeroth achievement; the questline An Earnest Proposition → Saving the Best for Last.
- Dungeons: complete the Novice, Experienced and Master Spelunker groups. Raids: clear Hyjal Summit, Barrow Deeps, Onyxia's Lair. PvP: honor ranks, battleground reputation, Field of Honor journey.
All Legacy talents
| Tree | Talent (ranks) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Adventure | Well Rested (5) | +4%/rank rested XP accumulation and cap |
| Adventure | Thrill of Adventure (5) | Killing blow restores 1%/rank max HP+mana over 10s (not in dungeons) |
| Adventure | Field Medicine (2) · Field Guide (3) | Bandage lockout −5s/rank · camp-feature cooldown −8%/rank |
| Adventure | Talented (5) | First talent point at level 9 → 5 at max |
| Adventure | High Alert (2) · Frequent Flier (1) | Stealth detection +1 · flight paths 50% cheaper/20% faster |
| Professions | Working Overtime (5) | +4%/rank chance to skill up |
| Professions | Bountiful Harvest (5) | +20% scarce materials from Mining/Herbalism/Skinning |
| Professions | Master Chef (5) · Dedicated Study (1) · Bartering (2) · Performance Bonus (3) · Luremaster (2) | Extra cooked result · +1 skill in lowest trade · vendor prices −5% · double Merchant's Favor · fishing |
| Resourcefulness | Gourmand (3) · Permanence (2) | Food buffs +33% duration · long party/camp buffs last 50% longer |
| Resourcefulness | Reagent Economy (1) | Class abilities no longer need vendor reagents |
| Resourcefulness | Reinforce (5) · The Quick and the Dead (2) · Diplomat (5) · For Great Honor (5) | Less death durability loss · speed as ghost + free heals after res · +2% rep/rank · +2% honor/rank |
Alt for profession-heavy characters: swap Talented for Working Overtime, Field Medicine 2/2 and Field Guide 3/3 (half-price, faster flight paths). The Legacy numbers are from the 15 Oct beta – read in-game tooltips.
Talents Talents start at level 10 (level 5 with Legacy "Talented"). One point per level → 21 at 30, 31 at 40, 51 at 60.
Warrior – Arms (levelling spec, 1–40+)
Goal: Sweeping Strikes at 21 points, Mortal Strike as the 31st point (level 40, or ~35 with Talented). Rage generation first (Anger Management, Unbridled Wrath, Enrage) because Rage is the Warrior's real resource.
Then 32–51 (levels 41–60) – Fury tree for Rage & crit
Fast alternative before 40: if the Warrior is struggling on his own, Method suggests Protection (1H+shield) for solo – Shield Specialization first, Improved Thunder Clap, Master of Defense and Improved Revenge around 20 – but with a Paladin healer partner Arms is right.
Warrior – Protection (2nd spec at 40, dungeon tank)
31 points – ends at Shield Slam. Fill levels 41–60 with Last Stand, Improved Shield Wall and utility from Arms (Improved Rend, Deflection).
Warrior ability milestones
| Lvl | What you get |
|---|---|
| 1 | Battle Shout (always up), Heroic Strike |
| 4 | Rend, Charge |
| 6 / 8 | Thunder Clap / Hamstring (kite single mobs) |
| 10 | Bloodrage; class quest → Defensive Stance, Taunt, Sunder Armor. Talents open. |
| 12 | Overpower, Shield Bash |
| 14 | Revenge, Demoralizing Shout, Tactical Mastery |
| 16–18 | Shield Block, Mocking Blow, Disarm |
| 20 | Victory Rush (free, small heal), Cleave, Dual Wield, Slam, Retaliation, Polearms. Hauberk quests: Brutal Hauberk / Fire Hardened Hauberk |
| 22–28 | Intimidating Shout, Execute (24), Challenging Shout, Shield Wall (28) |
| 30 | Berserker Stance + Intercept: quest at Fray Island near Ratchet ("The Affray"). Also the Whirlwind Weapon quest in Alterac Mountains (Whirlwind Axe/Sword/Warhammer) – hard at 30; buy reagents or bring a high-level helper. |
| 36 / 38 | Whirlwind (hits up to 4) / Pummel |
| 40 | Plate armour, riding, dual talent specialization |
| 50 | Recklessness |
Rotation (open world)
Open with Rend and Sunder Armor; save Rage as the mob nears death to pre-fund the next pull; Overpower on dodge; Victory Rush after kills; Hamstring + kite if an extra mob joins. Weapon speed: slow & heavy – it boosts Overpower/Mortal Strike/Whirlwind.
Paladin – Retribution (levelling spec, 1–40+)
The guides' order of priority: Benediction → Sanctified Judgement → Improved Judgement → Pursuit of Justice. Slow 2H weapon: it pumps Holy Strike and Seal of Command. Capstone Unsealed Wrath at 31 points.
Levels 41–60: Improved Seals/Divine Strength from Holy, Eye for an Eye, Vindication 3/3, Deflection – or keep going Holy for healing (see below). Method also notes that a few points can go to Repentance if you want CC.
Paladin – Protection (2nd spec option, tank)
Tank rotation: Seal of Fury before pulling, Judgement (taunts), Consecration for groups of ~4, Holy Strike on cooldown. Swift Judgement and Reckoning are the late-game picks.
Paladin – Holy (2nd spec option, healer)
Healing needs +Healing/Spell Power gear to be good – the tank/heal set below covers this. Holy at 40 can respec cheaply; Method says to "keep your build until 40 for capstones".
Paladin spell milestones
| Lvl | Spell |
|---|---|
| 1–2 | Seal of Righteousness, Holy Light |
| 4 | Judgement (off GCD), Blessing of Might |
| 6 | Holy Strike (your instant), Divine Protection (6s immunity) |
| 8 | Hammer of Justice, Purify |
| 10 | Seal of Fury (tank seal), Blessing of Protection, Lay on Hands. Talents open. |
| 12 | Redemption (res) – class quest |
| 14 | Blessing of Wisdom |
| 16 | Retribution Aura (default aura while levelling), Righteous Fury (30 min, +90% Holy threat) |
| 20 | Consecration, Flash of Light, Blessing of Kings. Class quests: Tome of Valor, Test of Righteousness (Verigan's Fist), The Moonsilver Blade |
| 22 | "Must be Delgren" quest → Cloak of the Divine Storm |
| 30 | Divine Intervention (needs Symbol of Divinity) |
| 32 | Divine Shield |
| 40 | Riding training grants your mount (Forever moved to TBC-style riding), plate, dual spec |
| 42 | Cleanse |
| 44 | Hammer of Wrath (execute <20%) |
| 60 | Summon Charger quest |
Rotation
Seal of Righteousness (or Command once talented) on → Judgement on cooldown → Holy Strike. Consecration is expensive – use sparingly outdoors. Buff Might on the Warrior (Wisdom on yourself, Kings from 20). Salvation on everyone except the tank in dungeons. Save Greater Blessings for raids.
Zone Route (Alliance) Tick things off – progress is saved in your browser
Level ranges are from the Forever game data as reported by RankedBoost / Warcraft Tavern / Method. Dungeons are new where they didn't exist in Classic. Pick your own starting zone by race (Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh or Teldrassil; the Skyborne start is Zephras Isle, 1–12).
Dungeons – what and when Run as many unique dungeons as you can – Method calls them especially valuable for Warriors, because of weapon rewards.

Tank & Heal Sets Staying DPS spec in 5-mans before 40
Warrior: Defensive Stance tank (Arms spec)
- Get the Defensive Stance quest at 10. Tank in Defensive Stance with a 1H + shield (you keep your 2H in the bag).
- Rotation: Sunder Armor, Revenge when it lights up (14), Thunder Clap on cooldown, Demoralizing Shout, Shield Block (16), Heroic Strike with spare Rage. Taunt as needed.
- Cooldowns the guides tell you to use freely: Intimidating Shout (22), Retaliation, Shield Wall (28).
- Arms has no "tank talents" – so threat is lower; compensate with Sunder and by letting the Paladin hold Salvation off you.
1H / shield
| Lvl | 1H | Shield |
|---|
Paladin: healer set (Ret spec)
- Holy Light is slow/big, Flash of Light (20) fast/small. Cast Seal of Wisdom mana tricks; keep Blessing of Wisdom up on yourself.
- Salvation on the group (not the tank), Blessing of Protection / Divine Shield / Lay on Hands as panic buttons, Cleanse (42) / Purify for poisons and diseases.
- Swap in +Healing / Spell Power gear and a 1H + buckler. Carry Mana Potions (you brew them!) and stay Well Fed.
- For tanking: Righteous Fury (16), Seal of Fury (10), Holy Strike, Consecration; bring Divine Protection and Blessing of Protection as survival tools.

Professions Mining + Blacksmithing ✕ Alchemy + Herbalism
Warrior: Mining + Blacksmithing
- Mining feeds Blacksmithing while you quest. Start the quest "Mining for Dummies" for the pick.
- Weapon Stones – flat bonus weapon damage; keep one on at all times. Sharpening Wheel / Anvil / Master Forge are your camp buff objects (the Master Forge is comparable to Strength of Earth).
- Skill tiers: Apprentice 1–75 (cap), Journeyman 50–150 (char lvl 10), Expert 125–225 (lvl 20), Artisan 200–300 (lvl 35). Blacksmithing got ~200 new recipes (beta data); at skill 300 you earn an account-wide profession title.
- Camping: the Cooking Fire is now a Basic Campfire that makes a campsite with vendors, repairs and a one-hour buff – you must be sitting and rested. A campfire holds three crafted objects, one from each nearby player. His Sharpening Wheel (Attack Power) is the one your Paladin cares about; the first object is learned at skill 20, advanced ones come from dungeon-boss Blueprints. Camp buffs don't stack with class buffs, so use whichever is bigger.
- Key crafts for the duo: Veteran's Silvered Chain Helm (20), Shining Mithril Pauldrons, Truesilver Gauntlets, Ornate Mithril Pants (40), Imperial Plate Belt (50), then the Blessed Plate set + Lionheart Helm + Titanic Leggings at 60. Method says Blacksmithing is the only reliable source of mail Spell Power gear for Paladins – so you benefit from your friend's skill.
- Also make Forest Defender's Axe, Sageblade and Evergreen Shield at 60.
- Over 600 new recipes were added across professions in Forever, and some dungeon bosses drop advanced Blueprints – keep an eye on boss loot.
Paladin: Alchemy + Herbalism
- Pick herbs while you quest (they feed Alchemy and sell well at the AH). Tauren get a Cultivation bonus, but you're Alliance.
- Your camp objects: Alchemy Lab (and the Mana Well / Fermenter line) and the Herbalism Incense Candle (raises Intellect – mana for you) – the two of you need Cooking for the campfire itself, so both level it. Alchemy has ~72 new recipes, Herbalism 3 (beta data); herbalism's "Wild Harvest" manual teaches the skill from a starter quest.
- Mana potions are the Paladin's lifeline (chain-pulling drains mana). Healing potions reportedly moved to First Aid in Forever – confirm in the trainer.
- Cooking gives XP-boost "Well Fed" food and is needed for campsites. First Aid is cheap, keeps you alive and is needed for Field Medicine.
Leveling tips
- Rested XP + "Well Fed" food + Legacy Well Rested – make it a routine.
- Quest rewards at 5 and 10 in your starter zone are some of the best gear you'll see for ten levels – see the Gear section.
- Pick a ruleset once: you can only group with the same ruleset (and the same faction). Make sure you create both characters in Normal (or PvP) together.
- Riverglades (36–44) is the new bridge zone between Redridge and Badlands – drop in for a few levels from Farholde Keep; Shen'dralas south of Desolace is a 40+ option once its level range is published.
- Do your class quests: Warrior 10 (Def. Stance), 20 (Hauberks), 30 (Berserker, Whirlwind weapon); Paladin 12 (Redemption), 20 (Verigan's Fist, Moonsilver Blade, Tome of Valor), 22 (Delgren), 60 (Charger).
- Paladin: keep Blessing of Might on the Warrior and Wisdom/Kings on yourself; Warrior: Battle Shout always up. Hamstring is your escape if a pull goes wrong.
- Warrior: put every spare Rage into mana-free damage during a fight; the Paladin: judge on cooldown, and use Lay on Hands only as an emergency (costs all mana, restores full HP).
- From level 15–30 do the new Alliance dungeons Hall of Thanes and Excavation Site: Wetlands; the first weapon in each is a major jump.
- 40: ride, buy dual spec, craft the plate set, change your 2H for the tank/heal sets if the group asks.
- 50–60: the new dungeons (Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold, Shaper's Terrace) are the efficient XP for the final stretch.
